The bay of Hyères is a geomorphological highly specific area of SE France because it cuts: (1) a double tombolo (rare) to the occupied shore by human activities (ports, ears) which divide the dynamic and whose issues involve the establishment of various engineering methods: ears, reloading, geotextiles, deconstruction of dams and strategic retreat which only a long-term monitoring assesses the impacts, (2) pockets to natural changes in the beaches whose role of processes related to the rise of the sea are proven (thesis C. Brunel) but where morphological monitoring is necessary to evaluate the sediment transfer arrangements
Since 2000 CEREGE doing work in the area (theses Shorty J., C. and R. Brunel Capanni) mainly concern the development of beach profiles, NCD pockets of beaches and several campaigns currentology. Such data must now be reorganized and undergo a homogenization protocol. Lidar coverage in 2006.
